Devon and Cornwall. Two copies of a map formed as follows: Ordnance Survey twelve-inch Plymouth sheet [2] and part of sheet [1] joined, together covering the area between Maryfield (near Torpoint) and Eggbuckland. Scale: 12 inches to 1 mile. Surveyed and contoured by Captain Cameron, Royal Engineers, 1854-1855; engraved at the Ordnance Survey Office, Southampton, 1857; sheet 2 published 31 December 1858 and sheet 1 published 30 June 1859. A northward extension to Saint Budeaux, consisting of photographic copies of parts of the Ordnance Survey 1:2,500 County Series sheets [Devon CXVII.10-12], reduced in size to the same scale as the main map, is affixed to the upper edge of each copy.
Both sheets bear the MS title: 'Plymouth North Eastern Defences'. Different coloured MS additions to each copy show: (3) Fort Saint Budeaux, land to be purchased and land over which power should be obtained to remove obstructions; (12) land required for two different stages of works, roads to be laid or improved, forts, and other unexplained details. MS reference tables. Both copies signed by Captain E F DuCane, Royal Engineers: (3) 29 November 1860; (12) 27 December 1860.
