(19-21) Three sheets, showing a chronoscope and its fitments used for measuring the velocity of a shell travelling through a gun barrel: (19) vertical view; (20) end and side views; (21) drawings of the three cutting plugs that registered the passing of the shell. (22) Vertical section through a Rockman pressure gauge. (23) Plans, elevations and sections of a crushing instrument. Scale: (19-20) 1:8; (21-23) 1:1. All items lithographed by Vincent Brooks, Day and Son. Dimensions: (19) 38 cm x 49 cm; (20) 33 cm x 48 cm; (21) 39 cm x 51 cm; (22) 44 cm x 18 cm; (23) 25 cm x 21 cm. Originally plates I-V, respectively, of a War Office print: 'Preliminary Report of the Committee on Explosives'.
