Louis, Bishop of Durham, states that he petitioned the King asking for a remedy in the matter of some lands and an advowson given to his predecessor, Anthony, by John de Bailliol, King of Scotland, within the franchise of Wark in Tynedale, which were taken into the hand of the King's father by means of a scire facias brought against Bishop Anthony in the Carlisle parliament, when Anthony was at the court of Rome on business of his church, and could not be present to defend his right. This petition was answered that the Treasurer and Chamberlains were to be ordered to send the record and process into parliament. They were sent, and are in the keeping of William de Ayermynne. The Bishop asks that justice might be done to him without more delay.
