Nature of request
Robert de Welle states that he made a fine in Chancery for the trespass he committed in marrying Maud, widow of Robert de Clyfford, without permission, and was pardoned; and the King then ordered Robert de Clydrowe, then Escheator North of the Trent, to deliver his lands to him, together with all the issues received from them after they were seized into the King's hand, but Robert has withheld 100 marks. He requests a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
The Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer are to be ordered by writ of the great seal to have the Escheator come before them to answer to the aforesaid Robert de Welle; and they are to do full justice to the parties there etc. And this petition is to be sent to the aforesaid Treasurer and Barons.

Note
CPR 1313-17 p.551 and CCR 1313-18 p.367 are both dated 3 October 1316 and Robert de Clydrowe ceased to be escheator apparently at about the same time. The petition would seem to date from shortly after this.CCR 1318-23 p.84 is dated 7 June 1319.
