Date
[? c. 1332]
Description
Petitioners
John de Attendern, merchant of Almaine.
Name(s)
de Attendern, John
Addressees
Places mentioned
Almaine (Germany)
Seint Botolf (Boston), [Lincolnshire].
Nature of request
John de Attendern, merchant of Almaine, states that he has sued to various parliaments for payment of money lent to the King at Boston in his first year, for which he has letters patent under the cocket, and that he was answered that, if the debt was still due, he was to have payment or an allowance in his wools to be carried out of the country. He has had various writs to the Treasurer, Barons and Chamberlains of the Exchequer to do this, but, although these have been received and enrolled in the Exchequer, and it has been found that the debt is due, he has not been able to have an allowance or payment. He requests justice and a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
Another command is to be sent by writ of Chancery, containing the first command and the effect of this petition, to the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer, that if the debt is still due, then they are to let him have payment or a suitable assignment, receiving etc.
Note
CCR 1330-3 pp.89-90 is dated 16 December 1330, and p.365 is dated 16 October 1331. This latter command can be seen to be in response to SC 8/14/667, which mentions the earlier one: this petition would seem to be a still later petition on the same matter.
