Nature of request
Frisot de Monteclare and Totte his brother state that Thomas, Earl of Lancaster, their lord, had granted and leased to them the manor of Temple Guiting with appurtenances for term of their lives, and that after his death Edward II had granted the same manor to them for term of their two lives, paying him £50 sterling annually. But two years later Hugh le Despenser the son disseised them of the manor by his great power and lordship, and took all their goods and chattels there, to the sum of £100 and more. And they are still disseised. They request a remedy, that they might recover the manor and hold it peacefully for term of their two lives, according to the letters patent of the King's father.

Coram rege.Certain people are to be appointed to inquire, in the presence of the keeper, into the things contained here, and other necessary things and articles. And Hugh's muniments are to be searched to see if anything can be found for the King to bar the claim. And when the inquisition has been held and returned and the search made, the King is to be advised of it all.

Datable to 1327-1330 by the content, and by SC 8/62/3064, which is from Frisot's executor, and is datable to 1330. The inquisition in CIM 1307-49 no.1022 was held on the feast of St Matthew, 2 Edward III (21 September 1328); but the petitioners are not mentioned.
