[This petition is badly damaged.]Thomas de Hywys states that he was wrongly imprisoned in Windsor castle on the accusation of an approver that he had 20s. from his part in a robbery, whereas no robbery took place. Fearing a long imprisonment, he tried to escape, but was caught and sent to York castle, where he has remained for five years. He states that he has served the King and his father all his life, in Wales, Scotland and Gascony, and has always been loyal, excepting his escape attempt. [He requests mercy.]
