The petitioners state that they have been chosen to inform the King of the perilous state of Ireland and ask him to give credence to their petition, and not to listen to information to the contrary. They make seven specific complaints of factors leading to this state, arising from a general council held at Kilkenny, and ask that a good and sufficient captain, and a good store of men and money, might be sent from England in haste, to combat these ills.
