Nature of request
Abbess and convent of minoresses outside Aldgate, London, state that they are being distrained like other people of religion for tenths granted to the King by the Pope, although they have bulls of Boniface VIII, confirmed by the present Pope, a transcript of which is sewn to this petition, granting that they shall be quit of taxes of various kinds. They ask that these bulls might be confirmed by the King under his seal.

Note
This petition is very similar to SC 8/164/8163, which is dated 1331, and would seem to be from around the same time. It must in any case date from before the death of John XXII in December 1334. The transcript of the bull with which it is enclosed (SC 7/64/42) is dated 17 September [1317]. CCR 1330-3 p.466 is dated 26 May 1332. CCR 1333-7 p.265 is dated 1 October 1334 and p.309 is dated 10 April 1334. It is uncertain whether any of these is the result of this particular petition.
