Nature of request
William de Tuddingham states that he was in the King's service in Scotland and that he had the King's protection until Michaelmas in the King's thirty-first year, and complains that within that time one Walter de Norwyce, King's clerk, came to Cambridgeshire with a commission from the King to inquire into what effects he had in the said county, and, when he found that William and his parceners held their lands in the Isle of Ely by a knight's fee, Giles de Barnett and Robert le Hundirder, bailiffs of the Bishop of Ely, wrongly had 40s, levied from him and his parceners, of which the King was not served.
Nature of endorsement
The sheriff of Cambridgeshire is to be ordered to have the aforesaid Giles and Robin come before the Barons of the Exchequer on the morrow of the close of Easter, to answer to the King for the contempt and damages.

Note
Dated by the mention of a protection that was to last until Michaelmas in the King's thirty-first year (1303). The petitioner's brother John is pardoned a trespass of venison because of William's service in Scotland on 11 November 1302 (CPR 1301-7 p.71).
