Nature of request

John, son of William le Furmery, states that his grandfather, John le Furmery, died seised of certain tenements in High Crosby in the vill of Dearham, Cumberland, and that after his death William de Forz, Count of Aumale, entered as chief lord, because William, John's son and heir, was in Ireland. When William returned to England, two years later, and asked to be received into his inheritance, William de Forz kept him out by force. He sought a remedy but the Count died, and the lands came into the seisin of Isabella de Forz, Countess of Aumale as dower. John brought a writ of aiel against her in the eyre of Hugh de Cressingham, and it was answered that Isabella held nothing in the lands except in dower. He requests a remedy.

Nature of endorsement

The King wills that a transcript of the petition be sent to John de St John, so that he might be more fully informed of the King's right, and inform the King of this in the next parliament.
