Description
Petitioners
Burgesses of Blandford.
Addressees
[Henry de Lacy], Earl [of Lincoln], and council.
Nature of request
[This petition is badly damaged.]The petitioners state that they are greatly impoverished for several reasons which they list and request permission to have a fair in Blandford on the eve of the feast of Saints Peter and Paul, on the day and on the morrow.
Nature of endorsement
It has been granted that the Earl of Lincoln should have a fair in the town of Blandford on the vigil [of the Apostles Peter and Paul, on the day, and on the morrow, with everything that belongs to a fair].
Places mentioned
Blandford, [Dorset].
Note
This petition seems to have the same endorsement as one enrolled on the roll of Hilary parliament of 1307 (Rot. Parl. vol. I, p.193b (no.13)), but appears to have been addressed to the Earl, and apparently forwarded by him. CChR 1300-26 p.78 is dated 4 February 1307.
