Nature of request
The Bishop of Norwich requests a prison, with all that belongs to a prison, in his town of Lynn, as there is currently no prison nearer than Norwich castle and the people of Lynn cannot be impleaded in any plea of land or of the crown outside their town.
Nature of endorsement
[On face, deleted] The Sheriff and the people of the town are to be heard etc. And he is to sue a writ that they are to come to the next parliament if he wishes etc.[On dorse] The Sheriff is to be ordered to appear in person before the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer fifteen days after Easter, and that he is to have come on the same day six of the better and more upright burgesses of the town of Lynn to show for the King and themselves anything they can say or show concerning whether the King can grant what is asked without harm to himself or not.
