Description

Name(s)
Dansei (Daunsey), Richard
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Richard Dansei states that he held a messuage and twelve acres of land of Roger de Mortemer, formerly Earl of March, of his franchise of Ewyas Lacy, and that Roger took that land into his hand as his escheat, supposing that Richard had killed one John Ragoun, although Richard has been acquitted of this felony before John Inge, justice of gaol delivery at Hereford in the time of the King's father. These tenements have come into the King's hand because of Roger's felony. Richard asks the King to order that justice be done to him, as he is acquitted of the felony for good reason.
Nature of endorsement
He is to sue to have the record of his acquittance brought before the King, and, when that record has been examined there, what is reasonable is to be done for him.
