de Semer, Simon
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Simon de Semer requests the herbage in the wood of Braithwaite and the covert of Middlesceugh in Inglewood Forest for term of ten years, paying annualy half a mark more than Henry le Scrop or John de Crumbewell did when they had the keeping of the King's forest beyond Trent.
Nature of endorsement
Certain people are to be appointed to inquire, in the presence of the Keeper or his lieutenant, into how much the herbage requested by the petition was worth before the Scottish war and how much it is worth now, saving always the enclosure and the herbage for the King's venison, and into what harm it would be if the King grants his request. And when the inquisition has been returned in Chancery, a command is further to be sent to the Exchequer that the Treasurer and Barons there are further to do with regard to this request what is to be done for the King's profit.
