de Seyton, Richard

King and council.
Nature of request
Richard de Seyton states that he had married his ward, Margery de Okley, and that he had been in possession of her and her land for four years and more when John de Lyons carried her off by force against her will, and still holds her and her land. He requests a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
He is to take action for himself at common law with regard to the abduction, and with regard to the lands unjustly withheld.
Places mentioned
Northamptonshire.
People mentioned
Margery de Okley
John de Lyons.
Note
Tentatively dated on the basis of the hand. There is mention of a Richard son of Richard de Seyton and Margery his wife in CCR 1279-88 p.281 (23 October 1284), but the hand of the petition seems too late for it to refer to the same couple.
