Note (Additional information about the record)
- A Richard Quatremains is mentioned as knight of the shire for Oxfordshire in the parliament of 1433, where an attack is made on him during parliament (Rot. Parl. vol. IV p.543a): this might well be the petitioner here. The date is certainly consistent with the hand and the use of the English language. A note on the guard mentions another man of this name in the reign of Edward IV, who is however never described as a knight. It also suggests that this petition might once have been attached to no.16 of C 81/1425 (concerning a grant of pardon to a Richard Quatermayns), but notes that the marks of sewing on the two documents do not correspond, and that the Richard Quatermayns mentioned there is definitely described as esquire.
