The Dean and chapter of York state that in the second year of his reign the King gave permission for the Archbishop of York to grant them the advowson of the church of Misterton, to hold for their own use, which he did, and that later, by authority of the Pope, the Archbishop granted that they could appropriate this church for ten years from its next vacancy. They therefore entered it at the next vacancy, which happened in the first week of Lent in the King's tenth year, and are still in possession; but the Archbishop has presented to the church, in contravention of his grant. They request confirmation of this appropriation, and confirmation and ratification of their estate and title to the church.
