[This petition is badly damaged.]Edmund, Duke of York, states that Richard II gave him and his heirs male the honour, vill, fair and market of Rayleigh in Essex, together with the profits of herbage in the park of Rayleigh, and also Thundersley, Eastwood, and Newport in the same county, with all franchises pertaining to them, for himself and his heirs male after the death of Aubrey de Veer, who held them for term of life and is now dead, in part compensation for a previous grant of money made by Richard II. Richard also granted him the keeping of the castle of Hadleigh, which Aubrey also held for term of life, to hold for term of life after Aubrey's death, with remainder to Edmund's son, Edward, Earl of Rutland, [and requests confirmation of these grants].
