[This petition is badly damaged.]Robert Chalons, knight states that the King has granted him [the property] in Yeovil formerly belonging to John Cary, knight, but that he has been disseised of this in the course of various riots and disturbances, and it has been taken into the King's hand. He requests writs to . . . the King on his/their allegiance and on pain of £100 . . . and to receive what will be adjudged by the King on this matter.

CPR 1399-1401 p.153 is dated 18 October 1399 and p.395 is dated 3 December 1400. CCR 1399-1402 p.232 is also dated 3 December 1400. As the petition mentions the grant made by the King, it would seem to date to the reign of Henry IV.
