Nature of request
John van Loveyn states that he has often sued to the King to have restitution and livery of a certain sum of money which the Searcher of London took from him when he was passing in a Gravesend boat towards Gravesend and Essex to buy cheese and butter, and that the King has given orders to his Chancellor to pay him this sum, and the Chancellor gave orders to the clerk of the rolls, who gave him a writ to the Searcher; but the Searcher says that he has delivered the money to the Treasurer by tally: so that he can have no payment without the King's aid. He asks the King to order the Treasurer to pay him.

[On face] Be it remembered that the Treasurer of England on 13 July in King Henry's second year assented in council to give the supplicant grace and restitution of the sum named in this petition[None on dorse]
