King.
Nature of request
[This petition is badly damaged.]The petitioners ask that, in view of the extra subsidy on wools and woolfells payable by alien merchants, over and above the normal subsidy, they might be acquitted of part of this total, for a certain period which they specify.
Nature of endorsement
[On face] This bill has been granted [by the King].[On dorse] The King has granted it until Martinmas.

Alien merchants.
Note
Dated on the guard to c. 1400 with reference to no.1754 of C 81/600: but this warrant, dated 16 April 1 Henry IV, seems to be referring to a different petition, complaining about the wrongful arrest of a ship belonging to these merchants. However, it does appear to name the same petitioner, and mention of the King's coronation in this petition suggests a date early in the reign of Henry IV.CPR 1399-1401 p.312, dated 11 May 1400, again refers to the wrongful arrest of the ship.
