Nature of request
The tenants of Halcetor state that Cadogan ap Willyn killed William ap Howell, the King's tenant there, in the aforesaid lordship, and that he and others are indicted of this felony; but that because Cadogan is a tenant of the Bishop of Hereford of Bishop's Castle, has sued letters to the King containing false suggestions, in order to have delivery of the felon: which would be to the prejudice of the King's lordship. They request the King's letters to his Steward of Montgomery to make due execution of this felony according to the law and custom of the lordship, notwithstanding any letters previously sent to the contrary.
