- The petition dates to 1397 as the manor was formerly a possession of the earl of Arundel until his forfeiture and execution in 1397, and the manor was already in Percy's hand by 1 December 1397 when Percy's homage for the manor was granted to the duke of Exeter (CPR 1396-9, pp.266).
