Note
Dated on the guard to 1388, with reference to a pardon granted for this death to the petitioner on 27 June 1388. However, while the date of Carter's death given in the petition is explicit, the patent roll calendar states that this occurred 'after Easter' in the king's ninth year (i.e. Easter 1386). There may have been confusion over the actual date of this event, and this may not necessarily be the petition which led directly to that pardon.
