Thomas de Erdeswyk requests that the king summon Humphrey de Stafford the elder, his son and Hyde before him and do justice regarding the manor of Bramshall. He recounts how, by an agreement mediated by the former Earl of Stafford, it was agreed that Erdeswyk should hold the manor of Bramshall while Humphrey de Stafford the elder should hold the manor of Amblecote, but Humphrey the younger, with the assent of his father, has since ousted Erdeswyk from Bramshall, and he has been unable to get justice in the county due to the influence of the Staffords.

The chancery warrant with which this petition was formerly enclosed is dated 16 July 1401. However, the petition at SC 8/251/12523, also enclosed with that warrant, appears to refer to this petition, suggesting that this petition (unless it forms a slightly later copy) may date from slightly earlier stage in this process.
