Nature of request
The Earl of Arundel requests the annulment of certain letters patent and the related processes regarding his possession of the vills of Llay, Burton and Honkley and half the vill of Trevalyn. He states that an inquest held before Holand found that these vills were a parcel of the lordship of Hopedale in Flintshire, which the king had granted to Holand, and the earl was thus sued for possession. However, he states that the vills never formed part of the lordship of Hopedale, but were part of his lordship of Bromfield, granted to his family by Edward I.
