Herle requests that whereas he had a provision of the late Pope Urban to a prebend in the church of Our Lady in Chester-le-Street where a prebend 'of Lamesley' is of the patronage of the bishop of Durham and which Fordham gave to Scampston, by whose death this prebend was void and then accepted by Herle, who was put in corporal possession of the same by the executors of the papal bull long before 29 January in the thirteenth year of the King's reign [1390], and continued in peaceable possession until he was ejected by the King's collation made to Westminster by letters patent on his false suggestion that the prebend was void and of royal collation, that a writ of scire facias be sent to Westminster ordering him to be before the King and chancellor to show why the royal letters patent appointing him to the prebend should not be repealed and annulled and the petitioner restored.
