Nature of request
The prior and convent of Axholme request that the King confirm Richard II's letters patent giving licence to Thomas, late Earl Marshal, to found a house of the Carthusian order on the isle of Axholme and to grant 100 acres of land to its prior and convent, as well as his grant to the abbot and convent of St Nicholas of Angers that they can grant the priory of Monks Kirby to the said prior and convent. They also request that the King give licence to John, Earl Marshal, to grant them land and rent to be taken from his manor of Epworth, and that the King grant them one tun or two pipes of wine of Gascony [yearly] to be taken in the port of Kingston-upon-Hull.
