Bonnet requests that whereas on 13 February last the King granted letters patent of safe-conduct for one year to the petitioner, Guylas, Anglois and Anglois to trade in England with a vessel called 'le Seint Jaques', and when he and Guylas were on their way to England on the ship, which was laden with sweet wine, figs, raisins, oil, salt and other things to the value of £600, men on a ship of Dartmouth arrayed for war captured their ship with its merchandises and imprisoned the men on board for a long time, that a commission be directed to Edward, elder son of the Earl of Devon, Cary, Cole, Hauley, Arnold and Mounfort ordering that they, or five, four, three or two of them, enquire into this matter and grant restitution to him, the ship's master and the men on board, with damages and expenses, and that those responsible be arrested and brought before the King and council to be punished.
