Preston requests that the King grant him a yearly rent of 20s. for life with arrears which la Pole granted him from certain messuages in Stamford, one in 'le Estgate' held by Josep and one held by Taylor, with powers of entry and distress if the rent were fifteen days in arrears, of which he was seised until the tenements were seized into the King's hand by la Pole's forfeiture by judgment of the parliament held at Westminster in the eleventh year of the King's reign [1388].

Note
Dated on the guard to 1390, with reference to CPR 1388-92, p. 347, a commission to enquire into the matter of this petition. This is also the date of the Chancery warrant with which it was formerly enclosed (C 81/517 no.6461); however the sewing marks on the petition do not correspond to any on the warrant, and so it must refer to a later connection.
