Glym and Bradeleygh recount that it was found by inquisition taken before the escheator of Wiltshire that Mulborn murdered Godfrey at Grovely in the thirteenth year of the King's reign [1390], at which time Mulborn held a messuage, land and meadow in Chapel Ashton, valued at 20s yearly, as the dower of Margaret his wife of the abbess of Romsey's manor of Steeple Ashton, and three cottages at the rent of 13s 4d yearly, all of which Margaret, when single, had of the grant of Prior and Palmer. The petitioners request that whereas the escheator seized into the King's hand as forfeit the said messuage, land and meadow, of which they were seised by Mulborn and his wife for a long time before the felony, that the King remove his hand from the said messuage, land and meadow and restore the same to the petitioners.
