Selby requests that a writ be sent to the chamberlains of Berwick to enquire of Selby's claims to the lands of his inheritance which he has not claimed because he resided in prison in Scotland for 8 years after his father's death, and if the claims are true that the land be rendered to him.

The petition dates to 1358 as the privy seal warrant with which it was formerly enclosed dates to 28 February 1358 [32 Edw. III] (C 81/373/23722). Letters of the privy seal also closely connected to this petition are dated to 11 November 1357, and also refer to a petition of this petitioner (C 81/908/15).
