Nature of request
[Petition in 2 parts:] 1) Giffard requests that it be commanded that writs be made according to the charters that the king granted him for a fine made before the king departed to Brabant, granting that the hospital of St Leonard and the chantry of Cotterstock be quit of taxes granted by lay and clerk to the king and his heirs. 2) Giffard requests that the land that he granted to the chantry of Cotterstock by licence of the king in the forest of Rockingham in a place called 'le Southside de Totenhowe' be granted that it be out of the regard and view of the foresters. He further requests that the king confirm the ordinances of the chantry.

The petition dates to 1332 as the privy seal warrant with which this petition was formerly enclosed, and the charter made in response to part of the petition date to 21 April 1340 [14 Edw. III] (C 81/265/12931; CChR 1327-1341, p.465).
