Nature of request
Clynton requests that the king ratify and confirm the release made by Laurence de Hastings to him of the three parts of the manor of Aston Cantlow, two parts of which Juliane de Hastings holds in dower, and one part which Isabel de Hastings held in dower. He also requests that the king ratify and confirm the feoffment that Hastings made to him of the manor of Wigginton. The manors are to be held to the petitioner and his heirs unless Hastings pays a certain sum to him whereupon the feoffments become null.

The petition dates to 1345 as indentures and releases relating to this matter were enrolled and acknowledged on 5 and 13 April 1345 (CCR 1343-6, pp.558-9, 567). The dating of the relevant privy seal warrant is to 19 Edward III, but the month is obscured in the dating clause, though likely to be 10 March (C 81/302/16676).
