The people of Finstock and Topples Wood request that there hamlets and the vill of Charlbury be assessed in common as Finstock and Topples Wood amount to just 7 virgates of land while Charlbury has 22 virgates, but Finstock and Topples Wood are assessed far more heavily for wool.

This bill was endorsed in parliament before the king.Let this bill be sent to the chancellor and he be commanded to do right to the plaintiffs.

The petition dates to 1348 as the inquisition and new assessment of the town and hamlets and the order to the assessors and collectors of the wool and fifteenths in Oxfordshire date to 22 April 1348 and 6 February 1349 respectively (CIM 1348-77, no.2075; CCR 1349-54, p.2).
