The chaplains request that writs be commanded to the chancellor that he by the council ordain for the right of the crown and of . . . that no process be made against them concerning a messuage, mill, land and rent in Neuhagh, used to establish a chantry . . . as John Pouger . . . one of the daughters and heirs of John Paynel and by the abetment of certain people of the country have brought an assize of novel disseisin.

The petition dates to 1347 as the privy seal warrant with which this petition was formerly enclosed is dated in its dating clause to 18 July 1347 [21 Edw. III] (C 81/321/18582). The land and the chantry cannot be identified, but the people are from Lincolnshire.
