Nature of request
Bernardestone requests that the king grant his letters to the chancellor that he order a commission to enquire upon the allegation made by him on behalf of the poor people of the vills of Flitcham and Appleton that Richeman has falsely taken more than their accustomed sums for the tax granted to the king. If Richeman is found to culpable then they request that he be arrested and kept safely and delivered to Thorpe to make redemption, and that he be punished as an example to all others.
