Description

Six sheets of drawings (enclosures in Captain Spry's despatch of 24 January 1778) of defence works for Halifax, Nova Scotia (now in Canada). (47) 'Design for an Ordnance Wharf and two additional Store-houses at Halifax in Nova Scotia; the whole to be enclosed within a Stone Wall 12 feet high': plan, section, and inset elevation of pier. Scale: plan 1 inch to 50 feet [1:600]; section 1 inch to 25 feet [1:300]; pier 1 inch to 10 feet [1:120]. Compass indicator. (48) 'Plan, Sections & Elevation of a Powder Magazine proposed to be built on Georges Island at Halifax Nova Scotia ...'. Scale: 1 inch to 10 feet [1:120]. (49) 'Plan of the Citadel Redoubt and Octagon Block House at Halifax'. Scale: 1 inch to 20 feet [1:240]. (50) Section relative to (49). (51) 'Plan of Fort Needham on Pedleys Hill at Halifax'. Scale: 1 inch to 20 feet [1:240]. (52) Section relative to (51). All signed by Captain William Spry, Commanding Royal Engineer. Dimensions of sheets: (47) 43 cm x 41 cm; (48) 37 cm x 47 cm; (49) 27 cm x 43 cm; (50) 30 cm x 47 cm; (51) 29 cm x 47 cm; (52) 27 cm x 43 cm.
