Seven sheets of drawings of proposed fortifications for St John's, Lower Canada, originally made to accompany report and estimate dated 11 January 1840 submitted by Lieutenant Colonel J Oldfield, Commanding Royal Engineer in the Canadas. (59) Sections through ABC, ZW and XYTV, relating to plate 1 [ie item (63) below]. Scales: ABC: 1 inch to 40 feet; ZW and XYTV vertical scale: 1 inch to 50 feet and horizontal scale: 1 inch to 100 feet. Drawn by Lieutenant H A White, Royal Engineers, 14 January 1840. (60) 'Tower proposed to be erected in the North West Bastion of the Fort ...': plans, section and elevation. Scale: 1 inch to 8 feet [1:96]. Drawn by Lieutenant A H Freeling, Royal Engineers, 31 December 1839. (61) Plan and section of the bridge leading to the Fort at St John's; with enlarged section of drawbridge lowering mechanism.
