Essex: Shotley. (1) Part of a sheet based on Ordnance Survey 1:2500 County Series Essex combined sheets XXI.7 and LXXXIX.7: surveyed 1863; revised 1875 and 1881; zincographed at the Ordnance Survey Office, Southampton, 1881. Printed annotation: 'For War Department [purposes only]'. MS coloured and pencil additions show War Department land and the proposed slipway. Annotated: 'To accompany report to I.G.F. [Inspector General of Fortifications] dated 12 th April 1886'; signed Colonel E L Bland, Commanding Royal Engineer, East District. (2) Copy of the base map (1). Compass indicator. MS coloured and pencil additions show War Department land and the proposed slipway. Signed Colonel E L Bland, 11 September 1885. Later MS amendments dated, 22 March 1886, 1 August 1887 and 23 November 1889. Dimensions: (1) 71.6 cm x 54.6 cm; (2) 45 cm x 40.4 cm.
