Three drawings of a proposed beacon for Cape Race, Newfoundland (now in Canada). (12) 'Wooden beacon with iron ball for Cape Race Newfoundland': elevation and 'Mode of erection'. Scale: 1 inch to 4 feet. Signed by Alexander Gordon, to accompany his letter of 16 January 1851. (13) 'Copy of tracing accompanying the Hydrographer's Report upon the proposed beacon at Cape Race, Newfoundland, April 1851'. Scale: 8 inches to 4 sea miles. Compass indicator. (14) 'Beacon for Cape Race ...': design referred to in Gordon's specification of 31 March 1851. Scale:1 inch to 4 feet. Copied by M S Whitmore, Lieutenant, Royal Engineers, May 1851. Signed by J Whitmore, Lieutenant Colonel, Commanding Royal Engineer, 6 May 1851, to accompany his letter of that date.
