Description

Ottoman Empire. 'Sketch Map showing Routes Eastward from the Anatolian Plateau': covering the area (now in Turkey, between Samsun, Erzurum, Malatya and Alexandretta (Iskenderun). Initialled: F R M [i.e. Lieutenant Colonel F R Maunsell], 4 August 1917. Originally enclosed in a letter from Maunsell to [Lieutenant Colonel W H] Gribben, 4 August 1917. A rough sketch of routes to the north of Sivas remains preserved at the parent reference in a letter from Maunsell dated 5 August 1917.
