Ottoman Empire. 'Mesopotamia Tel Keshaf': sketch map (of territory now in Iraq) showing the citadel hill, the Great Zab River (Nahr az Zab al Kabir), a cemetery, and contours; the citadel hill is 2,430 yards above the confluence of the Tigris (Nahr Dijlah) and Great Zab Rivers. Compass indicator. Taken from: 'Archäologische Reise in Euphrat und Tigris Gebiet [Archaeological Journeys in the Euphrates (Al Furat) and Tigris Area]', by Sarre and Herzfeld, 1909. Originally enclosed with a memorandum on Tel Kashaf by Lieutenant Colonel F R Maunsell, 22 October 1917.
