Ottoman Empire. (5) Map (of territory now in Syria) consisting of parts of two joined sheets, together covering the Khabur River and part of the Euphrates (Al Furat), between 36°30' and 35°; printed, coloured; irregular. Scale: 1:250,000. Inset: 'View Euphrates valley looking north from ruins of Halebie'. MS additions indicating the places shown on items 6-12. Scale bar affixed to the face of the map. (6-12) Seven sheets of plans of short lengths of the river; all MS, coloured. (6) 'Junction Euphrates - Khabur Tel Busaira [Al Busayrah] or Tel Kerkesie'; (7) 'River Khabur Tel Fundain'; (8) '... Tel Suwar'; (9) '... Tel Hussain'; (10) '... Tel Markada [Marqadah]'; (11) '... Tel Shedade [Ash Shaddadah]'; (12) '... Tel Ajabe (Arban)'. Scale: (6) 1 inch to 322.5 yards; (7-8, 10-12) 1:3,158; (9) 1 inch to 250 yards. Compass indicator to item 6. Dimensions between 67.5 cm x 38 cm and 15 cm x 21 cm. Formerly filed with notes on the Khabur River by Lieutenant Colonel F R Maunsell, 5 November 1917.
