Description

Clavering to Bute: payment of the extraordinary subsidy. The landgrave of Hesse is beginning to see too late that he should have put his case not to the diet but to the Aulic council. He has received a letter from the emperor containing only polite assurances. He is speaking of leaving Brunswick. Dated at Brunswick. ff. 167, 168
