This series contains the main series of policy files of the War Damage Commission and a few papers of the War Damage Office of the Board of Inland Revenue. They deal with the interpretation of different aspects of the War Damage Act and give a picture of how the various provisions of the Act were worked. Some of the files were created as a result of requests from individuals and representative bodies for clarification and interpretation of specific sections of the War Damage Act in relation to their claims for compensation.
