Captured ship: L'Alcion (master Louis Le Gentil).
History: a French merchant ship wth a letter of marque (150 tons, 18 carriage guns, 6 swivel guns, 58 men, 2 passengers) bound from St Malo to Saint Domingue, laden with provisions, 100 barrels of salt and 600 barrels of wood hoops; taken in fight on 11 December 1744 in latitude 46ºN, after an eight-hour fight, by the privateer Adventure (Thomas Israel commanding) and brought into Lisbon.
