Nature of request
The people of Pevensey, who are a member of the port of Hastings, ask the King to order the Chancellor to send a writ to Roger le Brabanzon and his companions to halt the plea in which their fellow-barons of Pevensey are impleaded by the Abbot of Bayham, the Prior of Lewes, the Prior of Michelham, the Prior of Wilmington and Roger de Shelvestrode in a plea of trespass, as they should not be impleaded except before their warden, that is, in their towns or at the court of Shipway.
