[This petition is damaged.]John de Fontenai states that the Pope has given to a Cardinal the church of . . . which is in the King's patronage, to the prejudice of the crown. He asks that the Chancellor, to preserve the King's right, might send writs to the Abbot of Bourne and to the Prior of . . ., that no execution might be made of this, and also a letter to the Bishop of Lincoln that nothing should be done for this.
